Four Central Massachusetts hospitals have been working through some administrative difficulties and regulatory investigations this year. In August and September, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health launched investigations into Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Framingham Union Hospital, and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick following hospital-related incidents and complaints submitted by the Massachusetts Nurses Association labor union. On Sept. 30, Gardner-based Heywood Healthcare, which operates hospitals in Gardner and Athol, announced its stand-alone exit from bankruptcy after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
