Ameresco, a Framingham-based clean-energy firm, has acquired a five-megawatt wind farm in west County Cork, Ireland.
The three-turbine site will deliver carbon-free electricity directly into the local utility network supported by a power purchase agreement, according to a Monday press release from Ameresco. The farm is expected to generate enough power to supply electricity for the equivalent of about 3,000 homes.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
“Having seen first-hand the production capability of wind farms in County Cork, I am very pleased to see Ameresco complete this acquisition and further add to our diversified renewable energy asset portfolio,” Ameresco Executive Vice President and CFO Doran Hole said in the press release.
Ameresco is a publicly traded clean energy service provider, which employs more than 1,000 people in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The company was founded in 2000 and is led by CEO, President, and Chairman George Sakellaris.
