A real estate market index compiled by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors fell for the sixth straight month in November.
The index dropped to 18.56 on a 100 point scale, with 0 representing a weak market and 100 being a strong market. The measure is down from October's score of 20.75 and is down from the November 2009 score of 38.6. The measure is designed to judge the strength of the current housing market and expectations for the future.
The realtor price index, also compiled by the association, fell on a year-to-year basis but rose compared to the October score. In November the price index came in at 44.74, up from 43.03 in October. Last year the index sat at 49.35. The figure represents the third straight month-to-month price index increase.
