Clark Gets $260K Grant

Clark University has received a $260,000 grant to help the school reshape its liberal arts education platform.

The grant is from the Davis Educational Foundation, which was founded by Stanton Davis, the former chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc.

The school is undertaking a study of its liberal arts program named the Liberal Education and Effective Practice Initiative (LEEP), which the grant will help support. In March, Clark held a summit with more than 30 liberal arts educators to discuss the future of liberal arts education.

The three-year grant will help encourage faculty engagement, build a framework for the program and create a system to assess LEEP's impact on student learning.

The LEEP program was started by University President David Angel while he served as provost of the school. Angel took over as president earlier this year.
