Marlborough Hospital will expand its surgical offerings with the addition of a new surgeon, Philip Cohen of Southborough, to its surgical team.
The expansion will help bring the most advanced, minimally invasive and general surgery services to the area, according to a statement by Marlborough Hospital.
Cohen specializes in digestive diseases, weight loss surgery, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and small bowel and hernia conditions. His services will add to Marlborough Hospital's existing surgical services, including breast surgery; colon and rectal surgery; general surgery; plastic surgery; thoracic surgery; vascular surgery; and wound care, the statement said.
"In essence, it means that our patients are able to access high-quality health care, close to home, but without stretching their pocketbooks," said Karen Moore, CEO of Marlborough Hospital.
Marlborough Hospital is a member of Worcester-based UMass Memorial Medical Center. Cohen is already affiliated with the system as a member of the UMass Memorial Specialty Care office in Southborough.
