UMass Cancer Program Receives Accreditation

The cancer program at UMass Memorial Medical Center has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

The three-year accreditation is the result of a survey by physicians that examine the cancer program's leadership, data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvements.

The ACS's accreditation program is designed to set a quality-of-care standard for cancer programs and to ensure that those programs meet those standards.

Facilities must volunteer to be evaluated for accreditation. Accreditations are reviewed by the ACS every three years.
