NYT Co. Sees Q2 Profit Tumble As New England Group Drags

The New York Times Co., parent to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and the Boston Globe, reported second quarter revenue of $589.6 million, a 1.2 percent increase over the same period a year ago.

The company said it made a profit of $31.8 million during the quarter, an 18 percent decrease from the $39.1 million in made a year earlier.

Operating income increased, however, from $66.4 million last year to $92.6 million.

The Times Co’s New England Media Group’s circulation grew 4.3 percent in the quarter, but advertising revenue declined 9.1 percent to $53.3 million.
