Worcester-based Spectrum Health Systems, one of the largest human services nonprofits in Central Massachusetts, will open a new outpatient treatment facility in the city come Monday.
The system’s new center, located at 1023 Main St., will merge two Worcester outpatient facilities located on Pleasant Street and Merrick Street which will cease their operations Friday. The clinic will provide counseling and medication for opioid use disorder treatment including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, according to a Tuesday press release.
“This new location will help us eliminate one of the greatest obstacles to accessing treatment: getting there,” Heidi DiRoberto, regional executive director at Spectrum, said in the release. “Many of our Worcester clients currently have to commute long distances, sometimes taking multiple buses, just to receive treatment. 1023 Main Street will make it easier for Worcester residents to access care, especially for those who need it most.”
The new facility’s opening comes just over a year after Spectrum purchased the property for $910,000, according to a transaction recorded by the Worcester District Registry of Deeds on Aug. 30 2023.
The center will be open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“As active members within the Worcester community, we believe this new facility is both timely and necessary,” Kurt Isaacson, president and CEO of Spectrum, said in the release. “1023 Main St. will be a critical resource to the community, providing a safe and more accessible location for individuals seeking recovery services, helping continue to curb the tragic consequences of substance misuse in the city.”
Having generated $128.52 million in revenue in fiscal year ending in June 2023, Spectrum Health Systems is the sixth largest human services provider in Central Massachusetts when ranked by total revenue for the most recent fiscal year by WBJ’s Research Department. Founded in 1969, Spectrum had $132.30 million in assets in June 2023 with 681 employees.
