Internet shoppers up 40 percent in two years

The number of Internet shoppers has risen 40 percent in two years, according to a Nielsen survey.

Among Internet users, the highest percentage of online shopping originates from South Korea, where 99 percent of people with access to the Web have shopped, compared to 57 percent in the United States. In 2007, the top online retailers were eBay, Amazon and Target.

Globally, the most popular and purchased items over the Internet are books, clothing, videos and airline tickets.
