Clark University President John Bassett has been named to a “Presidents’ Trust” formed by the American Association of Colleges and Presidents to advocate for liberal education.
Bassett, who is retiring from Clark in July of 2010 and becoming president of Heritage University in Washington State, joins 81 other college and university leaders on the trust. Its goals for the coming year include making an economic and civics case for liberal education, engaging immigrants, integrating professional preparation with liberal arts and promoting assessment and accountability.
