Thanks to a $10,000 gift from an alumnus, the entire first-year class at Anna Maria College will be given a grammar and citation guide for their college work.
The book, A Pocket Style Manual, includes tips on clarity, grammar, punctuation, research and citations, according to a press release from the college.
The $10,000 gift came from alumni Stephen DeVincent of the class of 1975.
According to the school, DeVincent, who graduated with a master's degree in psychology and a certificate of advanced graduate studies in 1979 before becoming a residential counselor, has donated to his school before.
A $20,000 endowment gift from the DeVincent/Strittmatter Memorial Fund helped purchase books and other materials for students who are first of second generation immigrants or students who were first in their family to attend college. That gift resulted in the creation of the American Dream Library in the school’s Student Success Center.
