Boost Fitness opens in Fitchburg

Hudson-based Boost Fitness has opened its eighth location, in the Market Basket plaza at 130 Water St. in Fitchburg in a 18,000-square-foot space previously occupied by the grocery store. Market Basket has moved to the other end of the plaza.
The 24-hour gym has about 30 employees and features a large group exercise room, a cross-training area, spin room and stationary bikes, the club said.
The opening represents the fitness center’s first location in the North County area. Other locations are in Auburn, Franklin, Hudson, Oxford, Tewksbury, Westford and Worcester.
The fitness center chain is now the largest independent chain in central Massachusetts, said owner Mark Frederico.
