Alex Beletsky
Age: 39
Title: CEO
Company: Sentri Inc.
Company location: Westborough
Residence: Brookline
College: Rensselear Polytechnic and Bentley College
Career highlights: My journey was a matter of timing and opportunity. Prior to Sentri, I was a CIO for a commercial real-estate firm and prior to that a management consultant at Deloitte & Touche. In 1999, due to much focus on Y2K issues, I thought that was a good time for me to go out on my own. I recognized that there was a lack of professional strategic technology consulting services for small and mid-sized businesses coupled with execution, so I called a friend from college who specialized in implementation, and we combined skills and started our company.
Community involvement: Running a company and managing a work-life balance is more than a full-time job. When I started Sentri, it took a lot of time away from other activities, including volunteering, and I missed that. To be able to accomplish both, Sentri created a new position, chief charity officer. Through this company initiative, in addition to meeting my personal social responsibility and charity goals, we were able to get all of our employees involved as well. We’ve adopted an underprivileged school, participated in a walk for autism and cancer, and have had several food and clothing drives.
Biggest professional success: Recognizing my weaknesses and surrounding myself with talented individuals who complemented my abilities and are continually instrumental in helping us grow our business.
Dream job: Teaching – I’ve always enjoyed working and influencing others though education. I’ve always wanted to take the skills I’ve acquired rom the corporate world and apply them in education.
Businessperson he admires most and why: Michael Dell. He took a company out of his basement and, through incredible vision and meticulous execution, built it into the organization it is now.
