Pay Cut At T&G

Nonunion employees at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette are getting a 2.5 percent pay cut, as part of larger cost-cutting measures at The New York Times Co.

The Boston Globe reports that T&G staff, along with employees of the company's other regional papers, will see their pay cut by 2.5 percent starting in April.

Meanwhile, staff at The New York Times, the Globe and Boston.com, and corporate staff, will take a 5 percent pay cut. In exchange, the groups will receive an extra 5 or 10 days off, respectively.

The company is also working with its unions to negotiate wage reductions among unionized staff.

The company said it plans to restore workers' pay to current levels next year if financial conditions permit.
