Holiday Travel Projected To Increase 3.1%

If you have plans to be on the roads during the upcoming holiday season, you won't be alone.

AAA is projecting that travel will be up 3.1 percent this year as compared to last during the Christmas-New Year's holiday period from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2.

In total, 92.3 million are expected to travel more than 50 miles for the holidays. Ninety-three percent of all holiday travelers are expected to get behind the wheel.

New England is expected to mirror the national average, with an overall increase of 3.2 percent over last year.

This is the fifth consecutive holiday period in 2010 that AAA has projected a year-to-year increase in travel.
