The state has requested more than $100 million from the U.S. Department of Energy for industrial clean energy and efficiency projects, including several in Central Massachusetts, the state Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs said.
The 31 projects were proposed by companies, towns and public agencies around the state and focus mainly on reducing fossil fuel use and emissions. Projects were selected by the state Department of Energy Resources.
The department expects to find out which projects the U.S. Department of Energy selects for funding in October. The funding will pay for half of the total cost of the projects that are approved.
Central Massachusetts businesses applying for funding include the Jordan Dairy Farm in Rutland, Boston Scientific and Ken's Foods in Marlborough, St. Mary's Health Center in Worcester, IPG Photonics in Oxford, the Groton School in Groton and Saint-Gobain Containers in Milford.
