Marlborough hotel woos business travelers
Fresh from a multi-million-dollar renovation, the new Courtyard by Marriott-Marlborough Hotel opens its doors to guests in September.
Although the 202-room hotel has been a Marlborough fixture for 20 years, the new Marriott brand and enhanced amenities position it as a special haven for business travelers.
"Our hotel has undergone a complete update, with new rooms, new public spaces, and new décor," says Mary Simone, general manager. "Business travelers will find our new amenities designed with their needs in mind."
For example, the hotel has designed its guest rooms and public spaces for both comfort and efficiency, with special emphasis on the workspaces that business travelers need to do their work while on the road. Guest rooms feature a desk on wheels, which also doubles as a table. Also featured: new task lighting and extra power outlets located at desk level. Guest rooms and the entire hotel offer free, high-speed Internet access.
But road warriors aren’t the only target audience. "Because Courtyard is designed to meet the exacting requirements of business travelers, it is also a perfect base of operations for family visits, reunions, weddings, or vacations," says Simone. She adds that the hotel’s identification as one of 600 Courtyard properties aligns it with the well-known Marriott brand name. "That gives us instant recognition."
Guest rooms feature either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, all with thicker, oversize mattresses and upscale linens, including duvets, comforters and oversize pillows. There is also a seating area with a sofa bed or oversize chair. Other amenities include: a two-line phone with voice mail, coffee maker, alarm clock, hair dryer, ironing board and iron. TV offerings feature a free premium movie channel. Among the many bathroom upgrades: granite vanities, extra shelves, full-length mirrors, brighter lighting and louvered closet doors. Safety conscious travelers will appreciate in-room smoke detectors and sprinklers, as well as electronic locks and a double-locking mechanism on doors.
Travelers don’t have to forgo their workout. The hotel offers an on-site health club with swimming pool and whirlpool.
Public spaces, too, have been redesigned with business travelers in mind. There is a business library with individual workstations, each with high-speed data ports and ergonomic chairs. A 24-hour market offers an assortment of food and snacks. The hotel’s restaurant seats 75 and features a built-in buffet for its signature breakfast, which includes eggs made to order, and sides such as bacon, sausage and home fries. The restaurant also boasts a full-service lounge with a variety of dinner options - an ideal setting for discussion and relaxation after work or on the weekend.
In addition, the hotel offers 7,000 square feet of meeting space. "Our 11 rooms - all with high-speed wireless access — can handle meetings or events from 10 to 300 people," notes Simone. Top of the line audio-visual equipment is also available. At 500 spaces, the hotel parking lot offers plenty of room for meeting attendees.
Sandra Miller, director of sales, is available to help plan meetings or events. The hotel’s website also provides a step-by-step guide to planning meetings, including space and budget calculators, timelines and tips on negotiating with suppliers.
All these improved amenities are icing on the cake for a hotel known for its outstanding hospitality. "Our exceptional service and standards create a powerful guest experience," concludes Simone. "We always exceed our guests’ expectations."
