MutualOne Bank has named its first senior vice president, chief information officer, promoting C-suite employee Daniel Serafin to the Framingham-based bank’s inaugural role.
In his new role, Serafin will take over the risk, vendor, and project management; and deposit operations and fraud prevention responsibilities previously held by Kristin Carvalho, the bank’s former president, chief operations officer, and treasurer.
In January, Carvalho was named MutualOne’s CEO and has since continued her presidential duties.
Having joined the bank in 2022, Serafin most recently served as its first senior vice president and chief technology officer, working to expand the institution’s offerings to customers and staff, according to a Wednesday press release.
Prior to joining MutualOne, Serafin held the chief information officer position at both Southbridge-based Savers Bank and Avidia Bank in Hudson.
Serafin earned his bachelor’s degree in information technology from UMass Lowell.
Founded in 1889, MutualOne had $890.1 million in local deposits as of June 20, 2023, making it the 13th largest bank in Central Massachusetts when ranked by local deposits, according to data collected by WBJ’s Research Department. The bank operates three full-service branches in Framingham and Natick.
