Natick-based Cognex Corp. has accepted a settlement in a suit it filed against a German company it accused of illegally importing and selling Cognex software.
Yxlon International GmbH and a U.S. subsidiary settled with Cognex on undisclosed terms.
The patent suit was filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission and Federal Court in Massachusetts. Cognex claimed that the marketing of certain company software by as many as 20 companies violated existing patents.
Yxlon was not a party to the federal suit.
The companies sued by Cognex have imported and sold products that use Cognex vision sensor technology invented and patented by Cognex, the company claims.
Cognex said it was open to forming a partnership with Yxlon to legally supply the company with software. Cognex makes machine vision sensors used in manufacturing and production lines.
