Sales of Central Massachusetts homes have continued to climb, with both Worcester and Middlesex counties posting year-over-year increases of more than 20 percent.
May home sales data from The Warren Group found that the state as a whole continued a climb in home sales, reaching 19,554 homes sold in the first five months of 2016 compared with 15,258 sold during the same time last year -- a 28.2 percent increase. Much of that growth is taking place in the eastern part of the state, but Central Massachusetts has seen its own sales successes.
Worcester County home sales climbed 28.28 percent for the year so far to 2,722, with May sales up 13.10 percent over last May. Condo sales have also climbed 21.36 percent over last year’s sales to date at 642.
Middlesex County is also riding the sales wave, with 3,827 single-family homes sold thus far in 2016, an increase of 19.63 percent over the same time period in 2015. Condo sales have been even stronger, posting up 26.21 percent over 2015 to 2,340 thus far this year.
While the sales numbers are strong, prices remain stagnant throughout the state.
