Worcester hearing on lending regs Monday

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has scheduled a series of hearings regarding her office's proposed amendments to the state's mortgage lender and broker regulations, and the first of the hearings will take place in Worcester.

That hearing is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce office at 339 Main Street.

The amendments proposed by Coakley are designed "to address unfair and deceptive tactics used in the mortgage industry," and were announced last month. Coakley said those unfair and deceptive tactics have led to the state's current foreclosure blitz.

Other hearings on the proposed amendments are scheduled for Tuesday at Brockton District Court in Brockton, Wednesday at Coakley's Springfield office and Thursday at the state house in Boston.
