U.S. Trade Deficit Grows

The U.S. trade deficit rose in December, to $40.6 billion, up from $38.3 billion the previous month, as both exports and imports rose, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The nation imported $5.1 billion more than in November, with the largest increase in industrial supplies and materials. Exports rose by $2.8 billion, with increases in capital goods, industrial supplies and materials and automotive vehicles, parts and engines.
