The United Way of Central Massachusetts will give $5.8 million to local community organizations this year through grants and other initiatives.
The organization recently announced that it would grant $355,000 to 12 programs focused on early childhood education and nine organizations for the development of parenting skills. Funding for those programs was awarded on a competitive basis.
The United Way also intends to give $2.7 million in grants for “people most in need,” which includes funding to support youth development and women’s initiatives.
In total, the United Way will make $3.1 million in grants to 69 programs and 52 agencies this year.
