After four years of business, Worcester houseplant shop The Plant Ward will close its doors for the last time after opening during the height of the COVID-19.
“This decision was not made lightly, but it marks an exciting new chapter for our business!” said a Jan. 12 Instagram post from the shop.
The Plant Ward will officially close on Feb. 23. Though it will close its brick-and-mortar store at 1102 A Pleasant St., the store will continue as it shifts its business model. The shop will now focus on its greenhouse operations, continuing to sell to customers online, through wholesale, and at plant markets and expos.
“While we will absolutely miss seeing you in the shop, we’re thrilled to be able to continue growing and sharing our love of plants in these ways,” said the post.
As the store prepares to close, The Plant Ward is offering incremental sales with everything 25% off through Feb. 8 and 30% off through its last day of operations.
“This continues to finalize the fact that the store is actually closing and that’s … hard. I hope to see you all in the coming weeks,” said a Jan. 18 post.
The Plant Ward was founded in 2020 by Kaila and Matt Ward to provide essential tools and products to the area’s plant enthusiasts, according to the shop's website. Along with plants ranging from tropical perennials to succulents, the shop offers accessories such as plant scoops and air plant fertilizer.
“Thank you to everyone who has visited, supported, and shared in our journey from the garage of our house to the shop. Your loyalty and kindness have meant the whole world to us. We look forward to continuing to serve you in this new capacity and hope to see you at our greenhouse or at upcoming plant events,” said the Jan. 12 post.
