Sturbridge Co. To Open Clean Room In Southbridge
Sturbridge medical device company Optim Inc. will open a new clean room manufacturing site in Southbridge after a grant to help the company expand in Sturbridge fell through.
The company said Optim and the Town of Sturbridge had received a pre-award notification of a $750,000 MORE Jobs grant from the state, but the final award has not yet been granted. Although the company would prefer to expand near its headquarters, it said, it will be opening the new clean room on Mill Street in Southbridge thanks to collaboration with Optimum Technologies Inc.
The new clean room will allow the company to manufacture disposable ultrasound probes and reusable handles for a northeast startup company. It said it plans to being manufacturing in June and start deliveries in August.
