Sourcing: A Sore Subject

When it comes to hiring the right person for a job opening, nearly half of staffing professionals say the biggest obstacle is simply finding candidates for the position.

The Newman Group recently asked 500 staffing professionals where they felt the pain in talent acquisition, and 43 percent said candidate sourcing was their greatest concern. Once candidates were found, they listed deficient skill sets (61%), job locations (49%) and competitive salary (47%) as the primary obstacles to hiring.

The report goes on to examine results-driven versus passive approaches to sourcing tactics and strategies, recruiting operations, technology, recruitment strategy, and metrics. The study is titled Talent Acquisition 2008: Survey and Analysis of the Changing Recruiting Landscape.
