Playful Master's Planned At WPI

Worcester Polytechnic Institute plans to launch a master's in interactive media and game development in the fall.

The school already has an undergraduate degree program in game development, which was launched in 2004.

The new master's program is designed for college graduates who are interested in the design of immersive, interactive game environments as well as game industry professionals who are interested in preparing for leadership positions. The program will also be open to professionals from other fields who are interested in changing careers.

Earning a master's in interactive media and game development will require the completion of 30 credits.

WPI's game development program was ranked at No. 6 on a list of the top game programs in the United States by The Princeton Review. Another Worcester school, Becker College, also made that list, ranking at No. 10.
