DCU's charitable foundation, DCU for Kids, has invested more than $242,000 in the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest since 2003. Photo/Courtesy VNA Care Network & Hospice of Worcester recently received a $40,000 grant from the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to fund its breast cancer treatment support program. This program provides low-income women who are receiving breast cancer treatment with a financial stipend to support them during their recovery. It also supports nurse case management and client navigation. Photo/Courtesy Why Me? of Worcester recently received a grant for $19,345 from The Colonial Figure Skating Club located in Acton. Why Me? is a nonprofit organization that provides emotional and financial support to families of children with cancer. The skating club recently produced “Skating for Sherry's House,” a fundraising skating show featuring nationally and internationally ranked figure skaters, to raise money for the grant. Photo/Courtesy The Webster Five Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Webster Five Cents Savings Bank, recently announced that it has donated $2,500 to the Barton Center for Diabetes Education Inc. of North Oxford. The donation will support the expansion of the campership program, which enables economically disadvantaged children who are insulin dependent to participate in year-round resident and day-camp programs focused on diabetes management.
