Personal Income Creeps Up In April

Personal income across the United States increased $46.1 billion, or 0.4 percent, in April, the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced this morning.

Disposable personal income was also up in April by $35.1 billion, or 0.3 percent.

Those increases were both lower than gains in March, when personal income increased $54.6 billion and DPI increased $46.3 billion, or 0.4 percent.

Increases in private wages and salaries in April of $27.3 billion outpaced gains of $20.6 billion in March.

And proprietors' income was up $4.4 billion in April, compared with an increase of $5.4 billion in March. Proprietor's income is the current production income of sole proprietorships, partnerships and tax-exempt cooperatives.
