Labor productivity — or output per hour — increased by 1.3 percent annual rate during the second quarter of 2015, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported Tuesday. This came after productivity had declined in the first three months of the year.
Output from April to June increased 2.8 percent, and hours worked increased 1.5 percent.
However, year-over-year productivity increased just 0.3 percent, the BLS reported. Output increased 2.8 percent and hours worked increased 2.6 percent, the BLS said.
The BLS also revised its figure for first-quarter productivity. That fell at a 1.1 percent rate instead of the 3.1 percent decline reported in June. The change reflects an upward revision of 2.1 percentage points in output for the first quarter of 2015, BLS said; hours increased at the same 1.6 percent rate reported previously.
All figures are for the non-farm U.S. business sector.
