National Grid is asking the state’s Department of Public Utilities to approve a 5-percent reduction in natural gas rates for this winter.
The company said a 10-percent reduction in the cost of natural gas should equate to about a 5-percent reduction in the average residential customer’s natural gas bill.
The DPU is expected to set natural gas rates next month.
