Milford hit with DEP fine

The town of Milford's highway department is paying the state $2,500 for dumping dirty water into a stream.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection says an inspection in 2005 found that personnel at Milford's highway department were dishcarging vehicle wash water to a nearby stream without an appropriate discharge permit.

The inspection also found the highway department generated more waste oil solids than it was registered to generate, and stored waste oil for longer than it should have.
