Mass. Personal Income Growth 14th In Nation

Personal income in Massachusetts grew by 0.2 percent in the third quarter of 2011, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

That growth rate is higher than the national average of 0.1 percent and puts the state in 14th place nationally.

The growth rate was by far the slowest in the past year for both the state and the nation. Massachusetts personal income grew 1.4 percent in the second quarter of the year, 2 percent the previous quarter and 0.5 and 1.3 percent for the fourth and third quarter of 2010, respectively. On the national level, the growth rate has ranged from 0.9 percent to 2.1 percent over the past year.
