An index of residential remodeling work rose 40 percent year-over-year and 4 percent month-over-month in October, but the Northeast represented an exception to the strong results.
The Residential BuildFax Remodeling Index for the Northeast dropped 4.5 percent year-over-year and grew only 1.6 percent between September and October.
Nationwide, though, the index had its 24th straight month of year-over-year growth in October. Growth was particularly strong in the West, with a growth rate of 52.5 percent.
The index shows remodeling work at its highest level in more than seven years nationwide.
