Framingham-based Gulf Oil LP announced Monday it will enter the commercial and industrial fuel supply business.
Gulf’s 12 proprietary terminals and more than 130 fuel supply points across the country will make the delivery of fuel directly to commercial and industrial businesses possible. The company has Gulf Oil- branded fuel operations in 30 states.
“As a national energy company, this new offering is a natural progression for us, and is part of the ongoing diversification of our already significant portfolio,” President Ron Sabia said in a statement.
Longtime Hess executive Douglas Moore will spearhead day-to-day operations of this new product line. Moore was most recently Hess’s nationwide manager of motor fuels and energy marketing.
Other recent moves by Gulf include the launch of Gulf Electricity in January 2012, which provides discounted electricity service to consumers and small businesses in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maine.
Gulf operates more than 2,500 branded gas stations and supplies gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene through its network.
