The Town of Simsbury and Griffin Land reached a settlement in their 8-year legal battle over a land development dispute. Griffin Land, a real estate division of Griffin Land & Nurseries, will be allowed to build 299 homes in the Meadowood development, down from 371 proposed units. In exchange, it will donate a significant amount of land to the town for open space. Thursday’s agreement appears to mark the end to the long fight, which has pitted Griffin’s development goals against town officials’ desire for greater control over open space and affordability in the Hartford suburb.
