PLC Systems Inc., a Franklin-based medical device company, has received a patent from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office for its RenalGuard technology.
The patent is the first for RenalGuard, a fluid balancing system. The company said Canada was the first country to fully review the patents for the system. Patents for the system are pending in the United States, Europe and Japan.
The system has been approved for sale in Europe.
PLC reported a $358,000 loss in the first quarter on revenue of $1.6 million.
