A Boston-based property firm has expanded its holdings with the purchase of a 190-unit apartment community in Framingham, according to the Registry of Deeds.
Beacon Communities purchased the Edmands House Apartments — a Section 8 affordable complex – for $22 million on May 29. The seller was Edmands House Apartments Associates, which is run by Palm Beach, Fla., resident Helen A. McCarthy, according to state records. McCarthy was represented by CBRE/New England's multi-housing group, which also procured the buyer, it announced.
The property is located in the Nobscot section of town near the Sudbury border. It has two six-story buildings that contain 102 one-bedroom and 88 two-bedroom apartments.
Of the 190 units, 112 are covered under a Section 8 contract. CBRE/NE said Beacon will increase the number of affordable units in the complex.
