In what Chief Operations Officer Michael Engel described as part of the first series of acquisitions since its 1956 founding, Spencer-based film and adhesive maker FLEXcon has bought Texas-based Arlon Engineered Coated Products and Arlon SignTech Ltd.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With the acquisition, FLEXcon is hiring all Arlon executives and employees and is creating a new business entity, FLEXcon Industrial LLC.
FLEXcon had previously announced plans to buy Arlon Graphics with an option to buy the other two Arlon divisions.
Engel said the new FLEXcon Industrial arm will allow the company to expand its business into non-graphical uses of its products. The division will handle industrial uses of coated and laminated materials, such as foam gaskets used in replacement windows.
