Fitchburg State University has added two new deans and an athletic director this summer.
The addition was announced earlier this month of Keith Williamson as the dean of business and technology, Jacalyn Kremer as dean of the Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Library and Matthew Burke as athletic director.
Williamson's position oversees reorganized academics at Fitchburg State, including business administration, industrial technology and computer science. He was most recently a visiting scholar at Old Dominion University in Virginia, and before his time in academia, he was a naval architect and program manager for the U.S. Navy.
Williamson holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Tufts University, a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University and a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
Kremer joins Fitchburg State from Fairfield University in Connecticut, where she led a team of librarians in developing open-source online academic integrity tutorials, which were recognized with a president's innovation award at Fairfield. She was previously an actuarial benefits consultant.
Kremer has a degree in business and mathematics from LeMoyne College in New York and a master's degree in library science from Southern Connecticut State University.
Burke replaces Sue Lauder, who was with Fitchburg State for 22 years before her retirement. He comes from Mount Ida College, which ceased operations in May. He was at Mount Ida since 1998, including the last seven years as executive director of athletics.
