EMC Remains External Disk Storage Market Leader

Framingham-based International Data Corp. (IDC) said in a report this morning that revenues at external disk storage factories around the world grew 13.2 percent during the first quarter of 2011 and that Hopkinton-based EMC Corp. remains the market leader.

EMC Corp., which reported $1.5 billion in first-quarter revenues, continues to lead the way with 27.3-percent revenue share, IDC said. EMC is trailed by NetApp, IBM and HP.

The external disk storage industry grew to just shy of $7.5 billion in revenues in the first quarter of 2011, a 12.1-percent gain from the same period a year ago.
