The Central Massachusetts region’s tourism agency is now fighting for the attention of Times Square tourists with a new ad campaign highlighting the area’s landscapes, attractions, and accessibility from New York City.

Discover Central Massachusetts has launched a “Find Chill Vibes” video ad campaign which will be featured among the square’s many video displays, encouraging potential tourists and visitors to the Central Massachusetts region to take a breath and enjoy the region’s landscapes and attractions, according to a Monday press release announcing the campaign.

The campaign, which includes a new page on the organization’s website, seeks to capitalize on the trend of slow tourism, where travelers seek more relaxing and care-free experiences in an attempt to disconnect from the difficulties of modern life. The videos highlight the fact that Worcester is a short flight away from New York City, reachable via Worcester Regional Airport.

“As the heart of the Commonwealth, Worcester offers residents and visitors alike beautiful parks, world-class museums, a culturally diverse hub of restaurants, a thriving arts and culture scene, and serene outdoor sanctuaries,” Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty said in the press release announcing the campaign. “With an easy, quick flight into the Worcester Regional Airport, we invite everyone to come experience our great city and explore the lively region and chill vibe of Central Massachusetts.”

The campaign includes three different videos which highlight a variety of local attractions including Wachusett Mountain Ski Area in Princeton, Worcester’s EcoTarium, and the Old Sturbridge Village living history museum.
