How do you deal with technological advances in your industry?
As leaders in the industry, one of our primary missions is to stay at the forefront of technology, offering services which benefit our customers in numerous ways. Our most recent addition to our extensive range of capabilities is 3D printing, an innovative service which has the ability to reduce costs and lead time, while yielding a prototype which provides a visual aid that can help with both the manufacturing and design process. Starting with plastic, metals can be added in order to better mimic the weight of the product, giving potential customers or investors a chance to hold it in their hand and experience the product or component in a way that a 2D CAD drawing can’t.
On the manufacturing floor, we utilize a robotic arm to load and unload parts. Although they are programmed and overseen by a machinist, they speed up the process and make parts move faster through the order process. This cost-effective alternative for repetitive production jobs helps to free up the skilled machinist to tend to other tasks. At Eagle, we value innovation and strive to provide our customers with the technologies which will result in growth for their business and development of their product line.
Why is Central Massachusetts a good place for a manufacturing company to be?
Manufacturing has been a long-standing tradition in Massachusetts. It offers a skilled workforce with a close proximity to colleges and universities. There are many highly skilled employees such as engineers and machinists at our fingertips. Eagle has a co-op program that partners with Tri-County Regional Vocational High School in Franklin. We have had great success retaining these students after they have completed their college degree. Being positioned in Franklin and close proximity to cities like Worcester, Providence and Boston puts us in a unique position to draw on resources and infrastructure that allows us to do business locally as well as worldwide.
