Durable Goods Orders Increase

Orders for American made durable goods increased by 3.4 percent between January and February, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

However, the bureau noted that January's durable goods orders totals had been revised to reflect a 7.3 percent decrease rather than the 4.5 percent decrease originally estimated.

Nevertheless, the February increase is the first for durable goods orders in six months and the largest increase since December 2007.

Shipments fell 0.5 percent in February and were down 0.4 percent excluding transportation goods. Inventories fell 0.9 percent during the month.
