Hong Kong-based medical device manufacturer OrbusNeich Medical Inc. is claiming that cardiovascular stents sold by Boston Scientific of Natick infringe upon a patent granted to the company late last month.
OrbusNeich was granted a patent for a “stent with helical elements” on March 23 and said in a statement that the issuance of that patent should allow the company to expand patent infringement claims previously filed against BSX in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts.
OrbusNeich claims BSX’s Liberte and TAXUS Liberte stents violate existing patents, as well as the newly-granted patent.
The company said it filed a motion today to amend its existing complaint to include the new patent.
OrbusNeich has operations in China, Japan, the Netherlands and Florida.
