Courion Boosts Staffing, Profits In 2011

Westborough-based software maker Courion Corp. said it increased sales in 2011 by more than double analyst estimates thanks to new customers in the health care, financial services, retail, government and manufacturing sectors.

A private company, Courion makes access risk software that addresses policy, regulatory compliance, access certification and access request management for a variety of industries.

A spokeswoman for the company declined to release any further information about revenues.

CEO Chris Zannetos said in a statement that the company expects demand to continue to rise in 2012, which has caused Courion to increase its staff by 39 percent across all departments in 2011. The company had 187 employees as of Dec. 31.

Courion launched three new software products in 2011 and netted customers such as Cintas Corp. and the American Red Cross.
