A Marlborough sporting complex owned by Fore Kicks is set to receive a 302-kilowatt solar system on its roof that will offset nearly 100 percent of its electricity costs, Hopkinton-based Fore Kicks announced.
The 130,000-square-foot facility, which opened in late 2009, contains indoor fields and courts, meeting and exercise rooms, several outdoor turf fields and a golf course.
Fore Kicks said it also plans to install a 282-kilowatt system at its Norfolk facility.
The company has hired Hopkinton-based Solect Energy Development LLC to build the systems.
Fore Kicks CEO Tom Teager said the two facilities were built with solar power in mind, but the company waited for the cost of solar panels to come down and efficiency to go up before starting the project.
