Mass. Home Prices Down In January
Massachusetts home prices fell 2 percent from January 2011 to January 2012, but the decline was below average, according to CoreLogic's Housing Price Index.
Nationwide, home prices fell 3.1 percent year-over-year and saw their sixth consecutive monthly decline in January.
Excluding distressed sales, prices across the country were down nine-tenths of one percent.
More than half of states saw a decline in year-over-year home prices, excluding distressed sales. But Massachusetts was one of 22 states that saw an increase in that category, with prices up 1.4 percent when distressed sales were not accounted for.
