Columbia Tech banks on value, collaboration

Westborough-based Columbia Tech, a division of Coghlin Companies, is a “time to market services” company offering product development, manufacturing, global fulfillment and aftermarket services to varied capital equipment innovation companies across many sectors.

The company, with just under 400 employees, targets scalable technology innovators who have an understanding of engineering and product development.

Chris Coghlin, president and CEO of Coghlin and its subsidiaries, answered some questions about everything from the company’s competitive edge to future plans.

Which markets do you serve?

Agricultural, Food and Beverage, Semiconductor, Homeland Security, Power Management, Alternative Energy, Medical, Life Sciences, Industrial Machine Tool, LED, Printing, Wireless and Data Storage.

How do you stay ahead of the competition?

We have a value proposition focused on time to market services and a proprietary Scaled Product Launch (SPL) Process that allows our company to commercialize products for globally recognized innovation companies with greater flexibility, speed and service. We are continuously enhancing our business model to bring greater quantifiable value to our clients with a focus on commercializing new innovative capital equipment products leveraging scalable technology.

How do you ensure quality?

We have rigid quality and compliance standards in place and make tremendous amounts of investment in quality education and training across the organization. Our company is ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003 registered, as well as J-STD-001. We also produce products to the latest IPC Standards.

What are your long term plans for the company?

We will continue to focus on growth, diversification, innovating and improving our time to market services and concept to commercialization business model.  We will continue to carefully listen to the needs of our client base, assess customer feedback and evolve the business to stay on the cutting edge of services required to enable lasting first impressions and exceptional customer experiences.
