A wooded stretch of Route 9 in Shrewsbury that's sat undeveloped while much of the rest of that thoroughfare has been built out for retail or other uses has been bought by the Boch automotive dealership chain.
Boch paid more than $8.3 million for more than 25 acres across from the Ashford Crossing residential complex and across South Street from a Price Chopper grocery store.
The deal, which closed Dec. 23, was announced Wednesday by NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs, the Worcester realty firm that brokered the sale.
Boch didn't return a message seeking comment on its plans for the site. The company has eight dealership locations in Norwood, two in North Attleborough and one in Westford. Those are owned by DCD Automotive Holdings, and the firm said the Shrewsbury site is separate from DCD's ownership of other other Boch dealerships.
The site the company has bought, at 701 and 713 Boston Turnpike, sits within eyesight of a string of dealerships just down the street on the other side of Route 9, including those for Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Kia.
The site Boch bought includes two single-family homes but is otherwise wooded. The two parcels, both owned by Tim and Eileen Samara and Lilly Attell Realty Trust, were last assessed by the Town of Shrewsbury at $991,000.
Ernie Boch currently owns the Ferrari dealership. DCD Automotive Holdings (currently owning all of the above mentioned dealerships) have not purchased this property and have no affiliation.
